I joined the Rotary almost twenty years ago, and from the very beginning I was aware of how fortunate I was to be able to work for the causes which this club supports and defends on a local, national and international level. I am very proud of our club, one which is comprised of exceptional people who have come together for a universal mission: that of serving others.
The Rotary Club of Paris promotes essential values, such as high moral values, strong character and benevolence, but also that of friendship. I keep these values close to my heart and I wish to uphold them throughout my year as president. Having chosen to join the most prestigious Club in France, I believe that these values are meaningful for every one of us, the members of the Rotary Club of Paris.
After these two years in the Pandemic, during which, after one hundred years of existence, our club has been able to show resilience while also building and preparing for the future, it is now time to benefit from a new momentum in order to achieve our goals of excellence. In concrete terms, I wish, with the help of each one of you, to expand our efforts in order to make our club shine even more brightly, both within its borders and on an international scale.
With this in mind, my agenda focuses on two key elements: the quality of our members and the quality of our conferences.
In regards to the members comprising our club, my wish for the coming year is to welcome new members from professions that have not been represented until now, in order to enrich our exchanges: university professors, senior civil servants, military personnel, and senior corporate directors, all of whom will contribute to raising the intellectual, cultural and social level of our club, which derives its legitimacy from the excellence of its members.
The success of our conferences is reflected above all in the high standard of our speakers, who are renowned specialists in the subjects they are called upon to address. That is why I hope that these conferences will enhance our knowledge on the following three themes: spirituality, geopolitics and literature, as well as the arts and sciences.
Throughout the year, I will be committed to engaging everyone's interest and support, while maintaining a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. To achieve these goals, we will work together as we always have. All the members of this club have contributed to the history of Rotary, and it is our responsibility to assure the continuity and perennity of this unique history.
